My husband says he would rather make the people he loves feel special all year round than celebrate just because it’s a holiday on the calendar. Still, he brought home flowers this past Valentine’s Day to surprise me.
I never participated in Valentine’s Day before I met Micheal. Our first Valentine’s Day as a couple, he bought me flowers and Cheetos, and I cried for so long because nobody had ever done that for me before. It made me feel like a queen. It wasn’t really about the flowers, but the Cheetos.
Just kidding… it was the gesture. Claiming me, Abby Kay, as the one he wanted to be with on a day about love.
When we first met, we talked for hours on end. It felt like a movie. We started spending a lot of time together, and we argued about plenty of trivial things, but we stuck together through whatever came our way. We got sober together, rescued animals together, moved to a new place, changed jobs, learned new skills, traveled, and went through so many stressful, crazy, wonderful, and fun things as a team. We make THE BEST team. It is so cheesy and I am pretty sure it makes me a “pick me,” but I’ll take it because it ended in a life beyond my wildest dreams. One full of love, adventures, and so much forward progress.
I can't even say why I fell in love aside from we were meant to be. I am so glad we found each other in this big world. Below are some pictures from our recent adventures. I love exploring with you, Micheal!
(Another reason Valentine’s Day is special… and we both agree this is the biggest reason to celebrate. On our first married Valentine’s Day, I told him I would never ask for anything ever again if he let me get a free dog I found on Craigslist, and that is the story of how we got our Reginald. Happy 7th Gotcha Day to our Reggie Spaghetti!)
